Naples businessman John Parke Wright IV, who met with a member of the Castro family when he was in Cuba last week, believes change for the better could be coming to the country. Wright, a member of the Lykes family of Florida, just returned from doing business in Havana.
Naples City Council members are thinking twice about state restrictions on how long live-aboard boaters can stay at the City Dock. City Council members agreed at their Tuesday workshop to add an item to today's City Council agenda about whether to lobby Gov. Charlie Crist and the Cabinet to loosen the restrictions in a proposed submerged land lease for the City Dock.
Ronald D. McMahan, former owner and editor of The Knoxville (Tenn.) Journal, died Tuesday in Naples. He was 70. McMahan was named editor of the Journal in 1981 when Gannett Co. Inc. purchased the paper from the Roy N. Lotspeich family. He held that post until 1986 when he and a partner bought the paper from Gannett.
